Universal Goddess Tarot - The Major Arcana

The Major Arcana, or Trump cards, make up the first 22 cards of the standard Tarot deck. The Universal Goddess Tarot follows this traditional structure, but replaces the standard RWS or Thoth-inspired images with images of Goddesses from many different traditions. The deck follows the European standard, with Justice being number VIII (8) and Strength numbered XI (11). Card number X (10) is named The Wheel, as opposed to the traditional name of The Wheel of Fortune.

The cards of the Major Arcana are numbered from 0-XXI and titled with their names. They do not include the names of the Goddesses pictured. The pictures on the cards represent allegorical figures, and the meanings of the cards are pulled from that particular Goddess's mythology.

The Major Arcana cards and their associated Goddesses are:

  1. The Fool - Lan Tsai-Ho
  2. The Magician - Demeter
  3. The High Priestess - Isis
  4. The Empress -Astarte
  5. The Emperor - Athena
