Tarot Reviews

New postings have slowed down here at The Lotus Pond because my husband and I welcome our new baby into the world in late January. Right now I'm working on about 4 to 6 hours of sleep a day, and don't have much time to write. Hopefully I will be able to write up some articles that I have notes for shortly, though.

In the meantime, here are some reviews that I forgot to announce that I had posted:

DruidCraft Tarot

Tarot of the New Vision

Tarot Updates

After an exceptionally long break, I have finally added several new articles to the site, and updated some older articles. You may also notice a few slight navigation changes.

New Articles

Used Tarot Decks - Is it a good idea to buy or trade for a used Tarot deck?

Esoteric Titles - Learn about the second set of titles associated with your Tarot cards

Notes on the Steele Wizard Major Arcana - My thoughts about the extra Major Arcana cards included with the wonderful Steele Wizard Tarot

Tarot Myths - Part One - A short discussion on some of the most prevalent Tarot myths

Updated Articles

About Tarot Cafe - Includes new information on release dates and why the past several issues have been so late

Introduction to Wiccan Texts - Sadly, a few of the excellent free texts linked to on this page are no longer available

Various links have been updated across many articles

Please note that I have removed the Tarot Reading Request form. I am expecting a baby in mid-January and I am in no shape to offer readings right now. Hopefully I will be able to offer free readings again sometime in the future. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to request a reading from me.

The moon phases in the right-hand column are correct again. (Thank you to my dad for pointing out that they were off by half a month.) Apparently the program I have been using had a flaw in the algorithm for 2007 and beyond. I've upgraded and everything is right now. As an aside, I highly recommend Robomagic's MoonPhase. (It is much nicer than the old screen shot on the website shows.)

Ethics and Readings

I've update the Tarot section with a short article about creating a code of ethics Tarot readings. I've also added my code of ethics for my readings.

I'm also excited to announce that I have added the ability to request a free one card Tarot reading from me. This is an actual reading done by me and a deck of Tarot cards. I will not be using a computer program. My goal is to practice my skills while allowing curious people to try a simple Tarot reading. If you are interested, please fill in the form here.

Justice to Strength - More Goddesses

Time has gotten away from me yet again, making this update too long coming. I've added four more cards to my Universal Goddess Tarot section, as well as a review of the deck. The newest cards can be found here:

Justice - Maat

The Hermit - Hecate

Strength - Ishtar

I'd also like to say thank you to Maria Caratti, the creator of The Universal Goddess Tarot. She visited my site about a month ago, and wrote me to let me know that she was pleased with what I have been doing with her deck. She is a lovely lady, and you can visit her website at mariacaratti.com.

Also, if you enjoy what I am doing, please consider purchasing an item through my Amazon store or through the regular Amazon site by clicking on the "Buy a Book" picture to the left.

Stores and Magic

As the old year is winding down, I figured it was time to take care of some long neglected tasks. Old and broken links have been fixed, the guest book has been updated, and a few fixes have been made here and there.

The biggest news here at the Lotus Pond is the addition of an Amazon store. Check out the Store link in the menu to the left for some handpicked books from Amazon. I get a tiny portion of whatever is bought through the store, so please remember me the next time you are looking for a good book.

I've also updated my article Why Magic Works and added the article Changing Views of Magic. There are also some new pictures in my Cross Stitch Gallery.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Tonight is the longest night of the year. It's about 4pm here, and already the sun is beginning to set. The dreary (but warm) weather encouraged me to stay inside and get some work done, so you will find my Winter Solstice up and ready to be read. (Yes, there is still no Samhain/November Eve article. It is coming though.)

I've also uploaded my first page in my new section devoted to the Universal Goddess Tarot. There you can read about the Fool card, featuring the Chinese goddess Lan Tsai-Ho. (Whom I call Lan Sigh-Hoe, but whose name my wonderful husband can pronounce perfectly.)

Video Game Violence

I've added a new article to my Misc. Articles section today: Video Game Violence.

This is a contentious issue today, although I have come to believe that much of the controversy surrounding video game violence is caused by the media looking for a good story. Both my husband and I play video games, some very violent (like Dead Rising for example), yet we are both fairly gentle and serene people.

Please, read the article and the links I have provided at the end. Let me know what you think. Also remember that in my opinion, it is the responsibly of the parent to be aware of what games their children are buying and playing.

Blessed Autumn Equinox! Fall is well and truly here in Southern Ontario. The leaves are starting to turn, and the weather is getting much colder. Although, the fall rains are making the flowers and grass look very lush. But the nip in the night airs lets us all know that we are going to get our first night frost any day now.

Well, it is almost two weeks late, but I have finally posted my August Eve ritual. I am planning to begin writing my Autumn Equinox ritual this evening, since the cool weather has inspired me.

I've also added an old article to the menus. It seems that I forgot to link an article I posted last summer: Thoughts on Self-Responsibility.

Lastly, I've added a new section Misc. Articles. It contains articles that I have written that don't fit into any other section on the website. The first article featured in this new section is Looking for a Deal? Try Being a Better Customer.
