Since I have all but stopped participating in memes I used to do, I have decided to join another one. I am an avid cross stitcher, so the Stitching Bloggers's Question really appeals to me.
This week's question is: Are there any types of designs that you won’t stitch?
In generally, I won't stitch any country or naive-style designs. I'm not interested in things from, say, Told in a Garden, Butternut Road, Alma Lynn, Gloria and Pat, Lizzie Kate or the like. (For none stitchers, these designs tend to be very country inspired, but have different design styles.) I also don't care for Christian religious design, even the seemingly mandatory Noah's Ark. And no matter how much I like them, I just can't bring myself to do any embellished designs. I find it a big waste of time to add a few stitches here and there to a printed background.
I like designs that are either big or complex. They also should be elegant, and fit my style and the style of my home. Just about the only simple designs I do are the Kats by Kelly designs that Calico Crossroads publishes. They are irresistible.
As an aside, I have finally finished adding pictures of most of my cross stitch projects to the Silentblue Galleries. Sadly, I have given away so many gifts that I forgot to take pictures of, so it isn't a complete record. But, it is a pretty good representation of what I like to stitch for myself. Please feel free to have a look at Sil's Cross Stitch Gallery.
